GIS/GEOINT Analyst intern (Houston, TX)

Description

 This is a targeting position that requires familiarity with the exploitation of geospatial and imagery sources to include social media. The selected candidate(s) will support a variety of operational and targeting efforts for a nonprofit organization providing human trafficking intelligence products to law enforcement. The position is part of a team that supports operations against human trafficking. The individual will be responsible for identifying targeting leads to enable a variety of intelligence operations through the exploitation of various open-source media and using link analysis to develop organization network maps.
 
The candidate will be expected to propose creative ideas, to participate in brainstorming sessions, and to offer operational recommendations. The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Candidate must have excellent judgment with a strong sense of accountability for themselves, and their actions. Candidate must be able to respond quickly to high priority data requests with minimal supervision. Candidate must be able to work effectively with law enforcement. The successful candidate may have to travel to corporate headquarters in Dallas, TX. Additional travel generally lasting 5-7 days may be required to support operations.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts geospatial analysis of objects, networks, and persons using geospatial tools, methodologies, spatial-temporal data, imagery, social and physical sciences.
  • Exploits imagery, vector, and other data types to include non-geospatially correlated data to locate, identify, and map objects in the spatial domain.
  • Incorporates multi-spatial view intelligence products in support of targeting efforts.
  • Performs collection management, planning and assessments. 
  • Performs target development, administration, and automation. 
  • Utilizes geospatial tools to develop, refine and conduct pattern of life and event/time analysis
  • Extracts, ingests, and manages geospatial data to produce other operational and finished intelligence products.
  • Conducts intelligence planning with other SMEs to support future operations, and deliberate planning and engagement with law enforcement partners, and the commercial sector.
  • Provides analysis of terrain mapping, route planning, patterns of life, maritime geospatial activity, and other subjects.
  • Fuses data from other intelligence disciplines into GEOINT products

Requirements

  • Live in Houston, TX area
  • US Citizenship
  • Pass a background check, including a criminal background check
  • Experience with ArcMap, ArcGIS, Google Maps/Google Earth
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the use of GIS systems required to meet mission requirements.
  • Ability to define comprehensive, new, or unique research approaches to targeting.
  • Ability to perform in-depth analysis of analytic operations across organizational and intra-IC boundaries and clearly articulate key findings.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to review analytic products for cogent arguments, tradecraft standards, and adequate support for conclusions; routinely tests analytic rigor of analytic products.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Activity-Based Intelligence (ABI) systems
  • Python coding
  • Imagery analysis
  • Shadow analysis
  • EOS Landviewer experience
  • Exif/metadata analysis
  • Experience with NSA, broader IC, JSOC or USSOCOM highly desired but not required
  • Intelligence analysis targeting background
  • Direct support experience in the military or intelligence community
  • Familiarity with special operations and intelligence targeting methodologies
